The suspected leaders of a criminal gang that has been terrorising residents of Mount Elgon appeared in court under tight security.

Timothy Kiptanui Kitai alias Cheparkach, and Brother Cleophas Ngeywo Kitai, are facing various counts of murder, robbery with violence, defilement and rape.
