Kenya Sevens began the year with a series of tournaments among them the Vancouver Sevens which Shujaa finished as silver medalists after losing to Fiji in the finals in March 2018.
A trip to Gold Coast for the Commonwealth Games would be rather disappointing as Kenyans failed to surge past their opponents in a tough pool bringing together New Zealand, Canada and Zambia.
Another game in Hong Kong Sevens pitted Kenyans against Australia, Spain and Canada. Back home at Milimani Court was a simmering rape case allegations against two of their players.
One would have wondered how the squad coped with the cases against two of their colleagues. It is one of the worries that many fans had going into another crucial tournament-the Singapore Sevens Series.
By reaching the fifth semifinal, Shujaa Sevens may have defied all the odds to prove that they could still compete despite the emotional baggage therein.
Below is the squad that Kenya Sevens coach Innocent Simiyu picked for the Singapore Sevens:
Oscar Ouma (Top Fry Nakuru, Captain)
Samuel Oliech (Resolution Impala Saracens)
Andrew Amonde (KCB)
Willy Ambaka (SportPesa Quins)
Daniel Sikuta (Kabras Sugar)
Arthur Owira (KCB)
Collins Injera (Mwamba)

Billy Odhiambo (Mwamba)
