250 families displaced in Nyanza region as floods wreak havoc

 

Residents of Ombaka-Kakola area in Kisumu county are rescued by a boat from their houses that were suddenly submerged by overflow from River Nyando on April 25, 2018 morning after it rained in the Nandi escarpment. The entire village was marooned forcing over 250 lucky residents to flee to safer grounds with most of them salvaging nothing. (Denish Ochieng, Standard)

At least 250 families have been displaced in fresh floods after River Nyando broke its banks following continued rains in Nandi Hills, the main source of the river.
