Irate residents set ablaze a lorry after the driver hit a bodaboda rider at Tartar junction along Kapenguria Kitale road.

The youths who were protesting the man’s death barricaded the road with stones and logs paralysing transport on Friday evening.

The lorry which was headed to Kitale collided with the motor bike killing the rider on the spot. The accident happened few metres from a police road block.

The police lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the protestors and took the body to Kapenguria Referral Hospital mortuary.

West Pokot county base commander Elijah Teeka said it was illegal for residents to set the lorry ablaze as accidents are unforeseen.

Recently, at least 20 passengers escaped death when a bus they were travelling in was torched by boda boda riders. The Otange Bus Service vehicle was set ablaze over claims that it had caused an accident that involved a boda boda rider.
