Jubilee leaders betrayed me, Kibagendi says as he concedes defeat

Jubilee Parliamentary seat aspirant Anthony Kibagendi came second after Ford Kenya aspirant and incumbent Richard Momoima Onyonka who retained his seat in the Kitutu Chache South by-election went down on Tuesday, November 7.

Kibagendi who garnered 5, 074 votes congratulated Onyoka who led with 10,122 votes saying that he knows Onyoka will join the government soon to work towards developing the constituency.

Onyoka got support from National Super Alliance (NASA) leadership after they withdrew it from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Samwel Omwando.

He thanked his supporters, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, family and friends who stood by him.

"I say a big thank you to the people of Kitutu Chache South who turned up to vote for me, thank you to my supporters across the country, thank you to The President and The Deputy President for believing in me, I give special thanks to my team, my family and my true friends. Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, Senator Milly Omanga,Donya Toto and Richard Tongi, The Jubilee youth league, thank you. God Bless you all", Kibagendi mentioned all those he wanted to thank.

On his Facebook post, Kibagendi also noted that it was not easy for him to garner votes since it is raining heavily and that he did not get support from Jubilee leaders in his region.

"Remember the entire the entire Kisii County government, all elected leaders in the region (both in jubilee and NASA) other than Richard N. Tongi were against me, Jubilee Leaders from the region who are uncomfortable with my growth other than Hon. Albert Nyaundi ,supported my opponent", he said.

Kibagendi assured followers that he has confidence in the direction he is headed in nurturing his ambition,"Some of my peers will try to ridicule me, mock me and even belittle me, imagine it won’t hurt me, it won’t move me, because unlike a majority of them I know where am headed."
