Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia mourns Bishop Cornelius Korir

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia on Monday joined Kenyans in mourning the death of Eldoret Bishop Cornelius Korir.

"I send my sincere condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret following death of Bishop Korir. He was a humble, charismatic and gallant defender of faith, peace, justice and rights of all," said Kimemia.

While serving as head of public service and secretary to cabinet, Kimemia said the late Bishop Korir In 2008 helped him personally to host and feed thousands of IDPs and later unite conflicting neighboring communities who began praying and talking to each other and even formed a joint inter- community and denomination choir.

“In 2013, he prayed and encouraged us to ensure a peaceful transition so that Kenya can heal and move on,” noted the governor.

Kimemia also added that “His death at this time should remind those bent on causing chaos, to take the warnings of history seriously and embrace peace and rule of law, shun violence and bloodshed”.
