NAIROBI, KENYA: Jubilee leaders on Saturday accused NASA princiapal Raila Odinga of plotting to sabotage Kenya’s economic base.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale said having lost the political contest, Raila has embarked on civil disobedience as part of a scheme to sabotage the economy.

“Now that he has realised he can’t succeed in his quest for presidency he wants to attack the economic foundation of our country so that he can recruit poor young people into militant activities,” said Murkomen.

He claimed Raila was hoping to frustrate businesses owned by Kenyans and it was a toxic and divisive tactic, which the Jubilee government would “vehemently resist”.

Duale said Jubilee had always strived for an all-inclusive government and this would continue after the repeat election.

“President Kenyatta has a constitutional mandate to involve and include Kenyans from all regions, ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs in his government, and this will unite the nation after this election,” he said.

He said the Jubilee government would continue to implement policies that focus on equity in resource allocation across all regions regardless of whether or not the voted for President Kenyatta.

Duale termed hypocritical allegations by NASA that the repeat poll was a sham.

“They (NASA) have no moral ground to comment about the election they boycotted,” he said.

The Garissa Township MP said IEBC should declare President Kenyatta winner.

“We had a 48 percent turnout which is one of the highest in Africa for a presidential re-run. IEBC did its part and offered every Kenyan the chance to vote,” he said.
