Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr’s celebration of his team’s winning of the Kenyan Premier League was yesterday marred after he was fined and warned for misconduct.
Kerr led Gor Mahia to their 16th KPL title at the weekend after they beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 and built an unassailable gap at the top of the 18-team log.
The Briton has been hit by a Sh2,500 fine and warned to watch his future conduct following complaints about his behaviour during two KPL matches.
KPL said it had received complaints against the Briton relating to his conduct during the matches against Sofapaka and Mathare United.
“Against Sofapaka, Kerr invaded the pitch to protest at a goal scored against his team, though he later apologised for the incident in his post-match interviews.
“Against Mathare United, in which Gor Mahia lost by a solitary goal, Kerr is alleged to have damaged a plastic chair belonging to the management of the Thika sub-county stadium and as a result, has been fined Sh2,500, which is the value of the chair, with the fine expected to be paid within seven working days,” KPL wrote in a statement.
Kerr has been advised to display mature behaviour and follow laid down procedures while lodging complaints as future acts of misconduct could see him charged and summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee.
