French Multinational Company, Safran Morpho has asked Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to push the election date to October 26 to allow it more time to upgrade the Kenya Integrated Elections Management Systems (KIEMS).

IEBC officials led by Chairman Wafula Chebukati are set to discuss the matter on Monday 18, 2017.

Safran Identity & Security, a global leader in identity and security solutions, was selected by Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to provide the technology solution for the country’s general elections held on August 8, 2017.

The IEBC appointed the company to provide the necessary technology to power the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System for the general elections that featured six major elections, including the presidential election.

Using its latest innovations in biometrics, Safran Identity and Security provided a comprehensive solution to enable IEBC verify the registered voters before the August 8 elections, and to facilitate a smooth and reliable voting process on the Election Day.
