Kenya Defence Forces’ Chief of the Defence Forces, General Samson Mwathethe has challenged the soldiers to bring glory to the country by successfully defending its overall title at the upcoming East Africa Community Military Games and Cultural Events, which will run from August 24 to September 6 in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Kenya won the tenth edition held in Rwanda last year after dominating most of the disciplines. They garnered three gold medals (football, handball and cross country), a silver (basketball) and bronze medal (netball). Ulinzi Stars reclaimed the football title they had lost to Rwanda’s APR in 2015 after beating Uganda 2-0 in a decisive final match. [Rodgers Eshitemi]
