Sir Mo Farah has reacted to losing his final track championship race by changing his name.

Six years of global dominance came to an end when Ethiopia’s Muktar Edris beat the British star to 5,000 metres gold on Saturday night.

Farah’s response was to reveal that he will head into the next chapter of his career no longer known as mighty Mo.

“My road name is Mohamed,” said the multi-winning Olympic and world track champion, who switches his attention to marathon running next month.

“I just feel like Mo is done. I need to forget about what I’ve achieved and what I’ve done.”

Farah is not quite done with the track.

He has races in Birmingham and Zurich over the next 10 days before heading for the tarmac and a tilt at a fourth straight Great North Run title.
