Kenyan Premier League select team face Sevilla reserve team today.

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) All Star face off with Sevilla Atletico bidding to end the tour of La Liga on a high after a crushing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Cordoba CF on Wednesday.

Although coach Stanley Okumbi maintains it is all about exposure and not a must-win clash, he expects an improvement from the showing at against Cordoba CF.

“We are learning the hard way that it is about passing, good movement on and off the ball and maintaining your tactical set up,” Okumbi said.

Sevilla Atletico is the reserve team of LaLiga side Sevilla, and plays in the Spanish Second Division although they are not eligible for promotion.

With their players eligible to play for the first team, Sevilla Atletico will provide another stern test for the Kenyan youngsters.

Cameroon goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa is the high-profile African player in the side alongside compatriot, central midfielder Yan Brice Eteki.

With Gor Mahia holding midfielder Ernest Wendo yet to fully recover from the knock he sustained against Everton, Okumbi expects to start with an unchanged line up against Sevilla Atletico.

“European teams play fast football and we saw that against Cordoba. We expect the same from Sevilla. However, having learnt a thing or two from the Cordoba, we look forward to an improved performance,” Okumbi said.

The Kenyan team was out run and out-thought by Cordoba CF with superior positional play and impeccable passing a quality Okumbi said nurtured from a tender age.

“Until we do the same for these lads at an early age, it will be difficult for us to compete. By coming here it is an opportunity for our players to open up their thing and what they can do individually to improvement themselves,” Okumbi said.

The select side from the KPL are on a tour of Spain at the invitation of LaLiga to learn and have a feel of the world’s best how football league.
