Jubilee will concentrate on selling their agenda to Kenyans- Uhuru

Kakamega County on Saturday played host to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, with the ruling coalition keen to take a piece of the voter-rich region perceived to be the opposition’s stronghold.

During the rally, the duo warned the opposition to be ready for another sounding defeat, worse than they suffered in the last election.

Kenyatta told the Luhya community they will be gambling by supporting NASA, noting that the alliance had nothing new to offer Kenyans.

He took issue with the opposition’s perceived insults and accusations, saying they have sensed defeat and were only trying to be diversionary.

“Unlike our competitors in the opposition, we are here to humbly request you to support our re-election so that you can have a stake in the next government if we clinch victory,” said Mr Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta maintained that he will not get into such fights with the opposition, and will instead concentrate on selling their agenda to Kenyans.

During the rally, President Kenyatta outlined his plans for the region, saying he will fight for the improvement of sugarcane farmers’ fortunes.

“We have so far injected Sh3.1 billion for revival of the sugar miller but there have been challenges in the management of the firm,” said Mr Kenyatta.

Kenyatta was accompanied by several Jubilee MPs, senators, governors and senior government officials.
