Several aspirants in the August 8 elections who have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have promised to work in harmony and adhere to the set rules and guidelines.

Candidates who have already been cleared and received their nomination certificates from IEBC have started campaigning for their respective seats less than 70 days to the election date.

The candidates have praised the IEBC officials for the professionalism they portrayed in handling the candidates as they submitted their papers to the respective offices at the Constituency and County levels.

Speaking in Laikipia West where he was cleared to contest for the Parliamentary seat, Laikipia County Assembly Speaker, Patrick Mariru, who will faceoff with the incumbent Waweru Nderitu, said that the aspirants from the area have agreed to conduct their campaigns peacefully.

Mariru is seeking election on a Jubilee Party ticket while the incumbent will be seeking to defend his seat as an Independent candidate after losing out in the party primaries last month.

In Ndaragwa Constituency, former Member of Parliament, Jeremiah Kioni, was also cleared to contest the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket while the incumbent, Francis Waweru Nderitu and Eng. George Gachagua, will contest as independent candidates.
