Trophy winning bosses fear being sacked, reveals Mourinho

The last three title-winning managers have all been sacked.

Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri was sacked on Thursday despite leading Leicester to the Premier League title last season.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho went on holiday to Brazil to get over being fired by Roman Abramovich - also having won the title.

Manchester City replaced former manager Manuel Pellegrini following the announcement that Pep Guardiola would take over the club after winning the League Cup.

Jose Mourinho has now warned title-chasing Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to be careful what he wishes for, according to the mirror.

The Manchester United chief reckons that winning the Premier League has become a poisoned chalice following Claudio Ranieri’s shock sacking by Leicester.

The last three title-winning bosses – Ranieri, Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini – have all been axed.

And Mourinho said: “I think Antonio Conte has to think about whether he wants to be champion this year!

“I think it is clear from what has happened to the managers who have won the title that football has changed.

“We can’t be naive. We cannot believe this is the same football that we had 20 years ago or even 10 years ago.

“Everything has changed and I am not afraid to say it. I still want this game. For me the game is what will happen at 4.30pm on Sunday at Wembley.

“But other things, the things that surround the industry we are in, are all changing.”

Ranieri ran out of time at Leicester just nine months after plotting the biggest title shock for almost 40 years.

Mourinho added: “What Claudio did at Leicester was bigger than my three titles for Chelsea combined.

“In 50 years, Leicester fans will know what Claudio did and it will be positive.

“There was clearly a next step for me – and for Claudio there will also be a next step.”
