Bishop Obanyi warns locals against gay practices and graft

The newly ordained Kakamega Catholic Diocese Bishop Joseph Obanyi has asked residents of the town to keep off gay practices that aliens want to impose on Africans.

Speaking to Christians during a tour of Shiseso Catholic Church in Ikolomani yesterday, Bishop Obanyi drew from the recent court ruling allowing gays to form unions,  which he found out of place.

"There are things that are brought in this country that are not in line with our ways. Gayism is not ours, is not African and it can't be Christian," he said.

The cleric asked the people to instead preserve their cultural practices, such as dancing to Isikuti, and not to engage in "strange" behaviour.

"I see you people love dancing to Isikuti. Better do that. Even if the law says there is freedom, we have limits too," he advised.

He asked Kenyans to shun corruption, saying: "As long as you are corrupt in the mind and heart, even if 20 officers were to guard you, you would still be corrupt. Cleanse your hearts and desist  from this malady," he said.
