Narok, Kenya: Nine people perished Thursday in a grisly road accident after a matatu they were traveling in rammed into an oncoming bus at Pinyiny area near Ntulele along Narok Nairobi highway.

The Matatu belonging to Bomet liners was travelling from Nairobi to Bomet when it rammed into a Transline bus heading to Nairobi after it rear tyre burst.

Narok OCPD Peterson Maelo said the matatu lost control after rear tyre burst before it hit the guard rail bouncing back to the road ramming into an oncoming bus.

Maelo added two passengers sustained serious injuries including the driver of the bus and were rushed to the Narok district hospital.

He added passengers in the bus did not sustain any injuries while the bodies were taken to Narok district hospital mortuary.

The accident comes just a day after a report on last month accident was released by the transport cabinet secretary Michael Kamau.

The scene of the accident is located a few metres from last month fatal accident involving city to city bus where 41 people lost their lives.
