Two Form Four students arrested after gun was found inside schoolbag

Kajiado, Kenya: Police are holding two school boys after a gun was allegedly recovered inside a schoolbag belonging to one of the boys.

The two Form Four students at Ololua Secondary School were arrested on Friday by police after a teacher discovered the firearm inside the student’s school bag.

According to Ngong Police boss Farah Mohamed, one of the boys arrived at the school late and was questioned by his teacher.

The teacher who realised the student was abit tensed decided to check his bag.

‘’The teacher was shocked to find a pistol wrapped in a paper alongside his books’’ said Mohamed.

The teacher then locked the boy inside one of the classrooms before contacting police.

The student, who leaves with his grandmothe, lead police to his one roomed house at Gichagi slums where police recovered more than ten grams of bhang.

‘’This incident shows that we have many young boy who are involved in crime. We have been getting reports of incidents where young men in school uniform are involved in robbery’’, the police boss said.

The second suspect was arrested after the boy revealed his accomplice during an interrogation by the detectives.

 ‘’We are still investigating the matter. The boys are assisting us with crucial leads and we have very many people involved in this’’ Mohamed added.

The police boss further added that the the gun had been taken to the firearm ballistics experts for examination.

He said the suspects will appear in Kibera court on Monday to answer to charges of being in possession with an unlicensed firearm.
