Why Nyamira County Assembly Members snubbed Senate teams

Details have emerged on why Nyamira County Assembly Members boycotted a meeting with two Senate committees on Friday.

Assembly officials said they skipped the meeting because some figures in the executive may have influenced the change of the Senate committees' itinerary over fears that wards reps would raise complaints against it.

A row has been brewing between the county assembly and the executive over release of finances for implementation of various House projects, a matter that would have featured during the committee's sessions with ward reps.

Nyamoko said Sessional Committee on Constitution Implementation and the Standing Committee on Information Communication and Technology (ICT) had been taking the assembly round in circles over the meeting, saying there were deliberate attempts to leave out the House and its officials during their visit.

But responding to the claims, Implementation Committee Chairman James Orengo denied claims of conspiring with the executive to snub the ward reps, adding they will return for a special meeting with them.
