Help appeal for child's heart surgery

Nairobi, Kenya: A family is seeking help from well-wishers to raise Sh1 million for their critically ill child.

The child, Fortune Furaha Kimani has been diagnosed with complex congenital heart disease and needs to travel to Miot Hospital in Chennia, India for treatment.

Her mother, Ann Mwathi, 31, said the child became ill immediately after birth, but the condition was diagnosed in August last year when she became critically ill.

"She used to suffer flu-like ailments but became critically ill in August and medics at Mater Hospital, Nairobi, discovered that she had a heart problem," Ms Mwathi told The Standard.

The unemployed mother said she and her husband, who repairs electronics in Kitui town, cannot afford to raise the amount needed for their daughter's urgent heart surgery.
