Man lynched for raping and killing granny in Nyandarua County

A 70-year-old woman was raped and killed at Sailinga village, Mawingu division of Nyandarua County. Residents who visited her house on Friday morning, found the body with severe head injuries. “The body lay naked with serious injuries inflicted on her by what we think was a blunt object. There was a lot of blood from her private parts,” said Nyandarua Central OCPD Wilson Kosgey. The neighbours traced her killer to a nearby homestead and stoned him to death. Kosgey said the mother of seven, who lived alone, had retired to bed early on Thursday. Neighbours found her house open when they went to visit her on Friday. “The suspect had been trailing the woman for a long time and residents found him hiding in a nearby homestead. They stoned him to death before setting his body on fire,” Kosgey said. The OCPD said the suspect had stolen an unknown amount of money from the woman who owns a shop in Mawingu trading center. The bodies were moved to JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital in Ol Kalou.
