KDF starts hiring drive Tuesday

NAIROBI, KENYA: The national military recruitment drive starts tomorrow and will run for a month, the Department of Defence (DoD) has announced.

The exercise aims to recruit more than 3,000 general service personnel, constabularies, and tradesmen and women.

Officials said 16 teams have been formed to oversee the exercise in all 289 district headquarters and a briefing will be done at DoD Monday. Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) General Julius Karangi will lead the process to ensure transparency, integrity and accountability.

The entry grade for the posts of general service personnel and constabularies is D plain (Form Four). KDF is also looking for mechanics, engineers, nurses, physiotherapists and quantity surveyors.

Since 2009, Kenyans have been conned of up to Sh35 million by fraudsters claiming they can help them join the service. In the last hiring, more than Sh7 million was paid out in bribes.
