Achieving Woman

What type of car/ride do you drive?

A Mitsubishi Colt, the 2007 model.

Did you get to pick the colour?

Yes, I settled on silver because I find it posh!

What do you love most about your car?

It’s surround music system and the fact that its fuel consumption is reasonable are among the factors that I love most.

Does it have a nickname?

Yes, it has. I call it sexy mama because of what it makes me feel.

What soup-ups have you made to your car to give it a personal touch?

The surround music is the coolest because it spoils me, and I can’t quite feel the traffic jam while with mama.

What girly stuff do you carry in your car?

Ha! My car is an extension of my room. In her, I have everything a girl would need. From shoes to clothes, to make-up, you name it.

If you could change a few things about the car, what would they be?

I would make her call me by name... Because I feel that we have a special attachment.

What is your experience driving in Nairobi?

Great! So far. I get a lot of favours on the road... I guess that’s because I am kind to other drivers. As a matter of fact, my sexy mama is spotless of any scratches.

Which animal are you on the road, a cheetah or a tortoise?

Cheetah! When I leave home, I think straight to where I am going and always look forward to being back home so the faster, the better. Plus, I grew up with boys.

The best destination you ever travelled to with your car is?

Naivasha, where we went for lunch with my girlfriends.

What is your ultimate dream car?

Mercedes Benz, that machine has got power to seal deals in business, if you know what I am talking about. As a lady, elegance and a little power comes in handy.

If you were stranded on a highway with a flat tyre?

I can change a tyre, but I prefer calling for help.

What do you do to kill time while in traffic?

I always choose to play and listen to my favourite music.

What song do you get carried away listening to in your car?

I love quality music so generally, I will go for love soft rock and Jazz, but Gospel really calms me too.

What habit would you not tolerate from people you carry in your car?

People who never remember to belt up and drive better using their mouths. Could they just hold it for a while?

What advice would you give a lady who wants to buy a car?

I’d advise her to cut her coat according to her size and consider a car that is friendly to their budget in terms of fuel consumption.

On average, how much do you spend on fuel?

Less than Sh10,000 a month. I live in Lavington and work in Kilimani, which is pretty close and manageable.

What is the worst driving experience you have had?

One day, I made a wrong turn and guess who I met first? Some mean policeman! Let’s just say it wasn’t nice.

What one thing have you learned about driving that you were not taught in driving school?

Being courteous doesn’t cost much and always remember that you are the only sane driver on the road.

What annoying driving habits have you observed on Kenyan roads?

Overlapping is the worst! I think people need to learn the art of ‘basic courtesy’.
