Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Morgue disposes off unclaimed bodies

Public health officers in Kisii have disposed of 15 unclaimed bodies at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue after the expiry of a 21-day notice.

Kisii County Public Health Officer Mellitus Kabar led a team of health officers in the exercise that saw the bodies buried in a mass grave at a local cemetery.

Mr Kabar said they had to inter the bodies that included an 18-year-old man and five still births because relatives had failed to honour the notice even after it was extended for two weeks.

"More bodies are still coming from different locations in South Nyanza region, a situation that has led to overloading and frequent breakdowns of the coolers," he said.
