Nairobi, Kenya: Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man in a hotel room in Nairobi, hours after he had checked in with a 32-year-old woman.

The businessman had booked a room at the hotel in the Central Business District where he was found dead, in unclear circumstances, at about 8pm on Sunday.

Police said he had booked the room at about 5pm saying he would leave the following day.

“But at about 8pm the woman called the management saying there was a problem in the room. When they went to check they found him lying unconscious on the bed,” said Central head of CID Keneth Njoroge.

Njoroge said the man was rushed to Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“There was nothing that was found in the room to suggest the cause of the death and we have to wait for the post-mortem exercise to explain that,” added Njoroge.

The woman who recorded a statement with the police said she saw him spit foam and throwing his legs prompting her to call the management and police later on.

The hotel management declined to comment saying the matter is still under investigation.
