Kenyan Athletes refusing to move into ‘Uninhabitable’ hotel after Olympic village closure

Olympics journey has ended, but already Kenyan athletes are branding Rio's games the 'worst ever' after the team encountered a string of problems.

The Kenyan team who have already left the Olympic village for another hotel were quick to share their concerns about their next move, with problems ranging from where to sleep and Zika virus infection.

Wesley Korir, the MP for Cherangany and Rio Team Kenya captain, told the Standard on Wednesday night that the new hotel  they were moving into was not acceptable.

According to Korir, the rooms in the hotel were filthy, mosquitoes were everywhere, and an “uninhabitable”.

The Kenyan athletes were scheduled to move into the hotel immediately but instead refused to disembark from the bus because they found the hotel rooms were in exceedingly poor condition.

Joseph Tiget, who replaced Michael Rotich following his suspension over bribery allegations, is currently with the Kenyan team as Team Manager.
