Manchester United ‘ready to sign Ilkay Gundogan, in surprise transfer’

The Red Devils have reignited  their interest  in Germany star Ilkay Gundogan after Louis van Gaal identified the Dortmund star as a potential successor to Michael Carrick, according to the Sun.

Gundogan is reportedly uncertain of his Dortmund future after boss Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave the club last week.

The 24-year-old midfielder's contract at the Westfalenstadion is set to expire at the end of next season and United could swoop.

Any significant bid could see Dortmund sell Gundogan to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.
