TRAGEDY: Two Daystar students lose their lives in grisly road accident

Daystar University has lost one of its students, Arnold Mutisya, in a grisly road accident along Mombasa road after the car he was driving hit a trailer on the side and rolled over. The accident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Arnold, who was in the company of four friends, was trying to overtake the trailer on the busy highway when he hit its back wheels on the side. The car then veered off the road, rolled and landed in a ditch.

The deceased and his four friends, who were allegedly drunk, were coming from club 1824 along Lang’ata road after the annual Daystar Star of Excellence Awards ceremony (SOEA) that took place at Two Rivers mall yesterday night.

Upon hearing the news, friends and relatives rushed to the hospital where the injured had been transferred to and have been camping there since morning.

“I still can’t believe it. It’s sad that the Arnold I was with just yesterday is no more. I was shocked when I got a call that Arnold had passed away.” Naomi Nduko, who lived in the same hostel block with the deceased said.

The four who survived were rushed to Shalom hospital for first aid treatment then later transferred to Nairobi West Hospital where two of them were admitted immediately for further observation while the other two, who both sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged. Arnold’s body was taken to City mortuary. May his soul rest in peace.

Marcia Wawira, a fourth – year student in Daystar University has passed away at Nairobi West Hospital.

The student, who was involved in a road accident along Mombasa road yesterday together with four of her friends, was admitted yesterday at Nairobi West hospital where she was being monitored closely.

“Marcia’s knee had been hurt badly and so the doctors decided to do a surgery on the knee. After the surgery, she couldn’t wake up. She was then taken to the ICU where she was under oxygen support but unfortunately, she couldn’t make it,” Johny Bravo, a fellow student who has been in the hospital with her the whole day said.

The shocking demise of Marcia comes after one of her friends that was driving the car yesterday morning, Arnold Mutisya, passed away minutes past 7:00 am yesterday when he succumbed to injuries from the accident.

“This really hurts, we have lost yet another precious life,” John Brian, the student President wrote in the student’s mail.

Our hearts are with the family and friends of the deceased.
