10-year-old boy killed in toilet explosion

A ten-year-old boy has died after suffering serious head injuries in a freak toilet explosion.
The boy had been playing with his friends in Thane, India when he visited the public lavatory at around 8pm.
As he was answering the call of nature, a septic tank, exploded in the corner of the cubicle he was using, inflicting major injuries after the lid of the tank landed on him.
The explosion was caused by gas collecting in the tank's vents.
Santosh Kadam, of Thane Municipal Corporation, said: "We received a call at around 8.30 pm.
"After examining the spot, it was found that the ventilation area was covered by rubbish, due to which the gas kept accumulating inside the tank, thereby creating high pressure."
