Rural electrification agency gets new boss

Rural Electrification Authority acting Chief Executive Officer Ngang’a Munyu has finally been confirmed to the position after acting for about two years.

Mr Munyu has now been appointed for a period of three years, starting from May 4 and is expected to spearhead the agency on its programme to light up all schools ahead of the laptops project rollout.

Acting Energy Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich gave the CEO his letter after the REA board ranked him the highest in interviews done early in the year. Three of the short-listed names had been forwarded to Cabinet Secretary Davies Chirchir on March 18, but the CS stepped aside before acting on the report, after he was mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission report.

In the interviews, Munyu was ranked first with 89.85 per cent, while Joseph Kisilu was second with 74.57 per cent. Edward Achieng was ranked third with 69.57 per cent.
