Kariobangi Sharks picked their second win in a row after stopping Zoo Kericho 3-0 in Saturday’s Nationwide Super League (NSL) match at Ruaraka grounds.

The win came just three days after Sharks beat Talanta 2-1 in a mid-week fixture at Nyayo Stadium.

The two wins pushed the team to third spot on the log with 44 points, where they stand a chance of making it to next year’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Zoo are also in third spot with 44 points but with an inferior goal aggregate.

It was billed as a grudge match as Zoo came into the match determined to repeat the 1-0 win they had achieved in the first leg.

But this was not to be as Pascal Ogweno, Michael Odongo and Rodgers Omondi scored a goal each to ensure Sharks kept all three points at home.

In another match, Nakumatt edged out Oserian 1-0 in Naivasha to cement their place in second spot with 51 points.

John Njoroge scored the only goal for Nakumatt, slotting home in the 45th minute.

In Kakamega, Vihiga United hit Moyas 2-0 to stay in fifth spot on the log. Goals from Christopher Masinza and Godfrey Airo lifted Vihiga, who have now collected 43 points from 23 matches.

In other matches, Talanta failed to bounce back to winning ways after being restricted to a barren draw by Nakuru All Stars at Thika Stadium while Agro-Chemicals and St Joseph drew 1-1.

Meanwhile, Kolongolo moved to the top of the National Division Two league after stopping Mulembe 2-0.

The team has now picked 44 points and have a good chance of making it to next year’s National Super League.

The match was headed for a barren draw before Haroun Okumu and Hussein Barbram scored a goal each for the winners.

Kolongolo chairman Kizito Namulanda said he was confident the team can make it to the top league and urged well-wishers to come out and support them.

“We are happy with our progress in the league despite scarce resources.

“We have managed to do very well and we are urging sponsors to come out and help us achieve our goal of playing in the top league next year,” he said.

They will, however, have to fight off stiff challenge from other teams.
