An employee of Kenya Power found himself in court for allegedly assaulting his neighbour for questioning why he had disconnected his power.
The accused, Edward Esila, reportedly committed the offence on January 25 at Saika estate in Nairobi. The court heard that Edward beat and injured Salune Nashile. The prosecution said that the accused who works with Kenya Power had asked two of his colleagues to disconnect Nashile’s electricity.
The complainant, the court heard, had left his house with the intention of paying his electricity bill when he received a call from his wife informing him that the power had been disconnected.
When Nashile returned, he demanded an explanation from Esila who allegedly kicked the complainant, sending him to the ground. The court heard that Nashile’s wife had to rush him to hospital.
Esila denied the charges and pleaded with the court for lenient bond terms. He was released on a cash bail of Sh10,000. The case will be heard on July 27, 2016.
