Truck drivers using the Nakuru highway have denied claims by the Nakuru Women Representative Mary Mbugua that they lure college students and young women into sex in the town. Mary allegedly told a local media that drivers should not stop in the town just to have sex with young women.
Speaking on behalf of the drivers, the secretary general Kenya Long Distance Truck Drivers Association, Nicholas Mbugua, told The Nairobian that: “It so demeaning because many people, including pastors, members of Parliament, businesspeople and even police officers use the road and stop in Nakuru.”
He added that, “drivers stop at night or in the evening and leave early the following morning. Some of them even spend the night in the trucks, so we find it offensive when the Women Rep claims that drivers lure college girls for sex. We demand an apology or else we will storm her office for an explanation.”
The Women Rep warned that any driver who will be found luring girls into sex will be arrested and charged in court.
