Mystery surrounds the murder of three men whose badly mutilated bodies were found dumped in the Nairobi City Park.

It appeared the men were murdered elsewhere and their bodies brought to the park although there was a pool of blood next to one of the bodies.

The first victim was discovered on Saturday morning by a woman walking through the park.

She alerted residents who called police, whose presence led to the discovery of the two other bodies on Sunday morning.

CRUDE WEAPONS

Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno said the victims appeared to have been killed using crude weapons and said investigations had begun into the murders.

“I am told they were all found in an enclosed place,” Mr Otieno said.

The murders are the latest in a series that have, in recent days, occurred in Nairobi. some of them remain unsolved.

A businessman was last Tuesday night executed gangland-style by gunmen as he drove along Limuru Road.

Stephen Mwangi Wachira was shot 13 times as he drove his car at about 9.30pm by assailants who escaped without stealing anything from him.

Three mobile phones, Sh100,000 in cash and other valuables were found intact in his pockets by police who arrived at the scene.

Police have since confirmed that Mr Wachira was a land dealer but are yet to make any arrests or establish the motive behind his murder.

“It seems the assailants trailed him before shooting him. This is pure murder,” said a senior officer at the scene.

Wachira’s white Mercedes Benz, which has 13 bullet holes on the driver’s side, is at Parklands Police Station. Police say the attackers used an AK47 rifle.

The shooting came two weeks after a well-known land dealer was executed in a similar manner in Umoja Estate, where 35 spent cartridges were found.

REAR WINDOW

Police said they had recorded statements from at least 15 people over the murder of Jared Odek Ochok, who was killed along Manyanja Road.

Detectives handling the case said the gunmen blocked the deceased’s car and walked to it, breaking the rear window and directing their guns at an already injured Ochok, before shooting him seven more times.

A mechanic who was with him died on the spot and two others were rushed to hospital with bullet wounds.
