Student arrested as he tried to sell con story

Kisumu, Kenya; A Form Three student who tried to lie to journalists that he was an orphan so as to get financial assistance has been arrested by police in Kisumu.

The Ringa Boys High School student, Nobert Otieno, told The Standard that he had lost both parents at a tender age, and they were buried at Lang'ata cemetery, which is not true.

The 17-year-old claimed he did not know where to go and needed school fees amounting to Sh94,000. "All I need is assistance to get school fees," he said.

When contacted, Ringa Boy's Principal Maurice Otunga said the boy has no school fees balance.
