Sadili Oval Sports Academy talent search camps ended successfully with over 30 juniors graduating.

The tennis camp was facilitated by Dan Limbago who is the national manager of National Junior Tennis at United States Tennis Association assisted by Sadili Oval’s Elizabeth Odera.

From the basketball court, Nick-Caro O’Neil Golding who was an Instructor with MPAC Sports in the UAE Dubai (from Chicago, USA) had intense sessions with students who were only eager to get skills on the game.

The two experts had a lot of praise for participating players describing them as perfect talent for the future.

O’Neil said he had seen a lot of potential in the Kenyan youth at Sadili Oval Sports Academy.

“We need to tap this talent at a young age for the fundamental basics so as to grow the talent in the game with time,” O’Neil said.

Libango said some of the tennis players were promising and have good potential in the sport.

“These young players have excellent physique and harbour positive attitude towards tennis,” he said.

Star basketballer

With determination written all over their faces was a clear indication of how well the players gained from the camps.

Zachary Okong’o who is a star basketball player at Malezi School said: “I have learned very important things during the camp among them the value of hard work, team work and discipline.

“I have also learned how to take care of myself, good leadership skills and as well as improve my game,” he said.

Tennis player Lonah Bhwenje of Lang’ata Barracks High School admitted the camp has added value to her game.

Positive attitude

Odera said that Sadili Oval and Legacy Youth Tennis and Education organisation in the US will have exchange program that would see players from Nairobi tour Pennsylvania next summer.

She said successful players must have worked with the community, be talented in sports and exhibit great leadership skills.

She said the purpose of the camp was to develop players to next level who can play college tennis or competitive game at high level.
