Four people died on Wednesday, among them two pilots and two German tourists after an aircraft crashed while taking off at Ngeredi airstrip within the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Seven other people were injured in the accident that occurred at noon and have been flown to Nairobi for treatment. Those on board were five Germans, four Americans and two nationals from Czech Republic.

The manager of the airstrip Daniel Chivai said the plane was from Mombasa and had dropped passengers.

He said the accident was caused by what he termed as ‘wrong wind direction’ and that the casualties were being treated by Flying Doctors from Nairobi.
