More than 3,000 residents of Arabal and Ramacha in Marigat District have fled their homes following clashes between Pokot and Endorois communities.

Tension is high as people in Ngelecha, Loraomoru and Ng’olbelwo villages left for fear of attacks after Thursday’s confrontation.

“People are camping at Chemorongion and Arabal Primary School. We call on security agencies to intervene after one person was shot dead last week,” said John Wendot, a resident.

Councillor Kimunyan Meja appealed to the Provincial Administration to intervene. Baringo OCPD Ndung’u Wa Ikonya confirmed people were moving adding that investigation had been launched.

“There was confrontation between the Tugen and Pokot morans,” said Mr Ikonya.
