Wenger played in a charity football match

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has returned to football - to play in a friendly match in memory of Aldo Platini, father of French legend Michel.

It was a charity match in France where Wenger was a surprise addition to the starting lineup that took on football legends and other members from near Nancy who had reunited to raise money for sick children.

The match was held as part of an homage for Michel Platini's father Aldo, who died last December with proceeds going to charity.

According to the Sun, the Frenchman's comeback ended well with the 68 year old netting a goal against their opponents.

The players were invited by Former UEFA president and French legend Michel Platini.

The 68 year-old, who left the London club in May, had been touted to replace Zidane as Real Madrid boss before Julen Lopetegui's announcement.
