Kamau stuns opponents in Solai karting event

The season is turning to be one of the most challenging with last weekend’s results bringing about great movements in the rankings of the karting log.

 In the 50cc category, speedsters Kinyanjui Kamau and Zoravar Dadhley were in imperious form during the first two rounds of the Rift Valley Motor and Sports Club (RVM&SC) championships, which ended in dramatic fashion at the Solai circuit in Nakuru.

Jason Oosterik won both rounds in the 60cc class; his skills on the straights and corners were noteworthy.

Tejas Hirani won round two but lost round one honours to Jeremy Wahome on Saturday. Tejas however admitted he had found Saturday’s wet conditions quite challenging.

Both Tejas and Wahome fought gallantly on Sunday, with some good heat exchanges in the straight sections.

Kinyanjui, a Year Four student at Kenton College, finished Saturday’s round one in fourth position. He was able to fight his way up the grid in qualifying to emerge the 50cc winner in the round two race on Sunday.

Zoravar Dadhley was peerless during the Saturday round when he amassed a total of 89 points to finish first in 50cc followed by Kim siblings William and Albert.

On Sunday, Kinyanjui chalked up 89 championship points, beating Amani Nzomo and Albert Kim in a scintillating podium dash. Kinyanjui leads the 50cc class with 169 points followed by William Kim (162) and Zoravar on 161 points.
