No football fan will be allowed into the Kasarani Stadium today when Harambee Stars take on Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, according to the Government.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars collide with African giants Egypt in a crucial Group G fixture of the 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers from 7pm (EAT).
According to Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb Amina Mohamed, spectators have been banned from the stadium to contain the spread of COVID-19.
“The Kenyan public is reminded that the Resumption of Sports Guidelines and Ministry of Health Safety Protocals provide that ONLY the players, official team handlers, assigned security and match officials SHALL be allowed into the stadium.
“No spectators will be allowed into the stadium,” CS Mohamed pointed out.

While wishing the teams an entertaining showdown in Nairobi, CS Mohamed stressed the need to be careful not to contract the deadly virus.
“Kenyans are encouraged to cheer and support our National Team from the comfort of their homes.
“We must continue to do our part to contain the spread of coronavirus. On behalf of the entire Ministry, I wish the teams an enjoyable match,” said Mohamed.

Both Egypt and Kenya need a crucial win in a tight Group G ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, the 33rd edition of the international men's football championship of Africa.
Qatar’s Michael Olunga’s return gives the new-look Harambee Stars team more optimism ahead of the Egypt, Togo qualifier matches.
Having missed the two legged-fixtures against Comoros last year (November) due to COVID-19 related restrictions, Olunga is optimistic of making the impossible possible on his return to the team.
“Of course, I feel great to be back in the team after a long absence. Just getting a call up back to the national team is a motivation in itself and I’m humbled to have gotten the task to help my country. I hope we are going to have a good experience in the upcoming two fixtures,” said Olunga, who scored the equaliser in Kenya’s famous 1-1 draw against Egypt in the first leg in Cairo in November 2019.
Though Kenya are technically out of contention going by their results in the opening four matches (three draws and a loss), they could still return to the continental finals.
Harambee Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee, in his provisional squad, raised eyebrows after dropping big names among them captain Victor Wanyama, winger Ayub Timbe, goalkeepers Patrick Matasi and Arnold Origi.
Stars will on Monday face Togo in Lome.
