With the entertainment scene in Nairobi slowly getting back to normal after about six months of a freeze prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the big shows are on a rollout with two of them slatted for this and next month.

Kicking it off will be the shopping, music and fun social outdoor event, Thrift, that will take place at Carnivore on October 31 and November 1. With deejays entertaining shoppers and party lovers, the event, an all family affair, is expected to kick off in the morning (on both days and end at 10pm).

Besides, the big clash is expected to take place during the Nai Fest set for November 7 when top Kenyan acts clash for the first time this year. Khaligraph Jones, who will be fresh from the BET Hip Hop Award’s that he is tipped to win, might seem the obvious big star of the day. Having taken the Kenyan Hip Hop game to a new high with a stream of 2020 hit releases such as Tuma Kitu, Yes Bana, Lwanda Magere and Roll with You, the African Hip Hop king will no doubt look forward to quenching his fans’ thirst after months of ‘no show’.

Again, there will be Tanasha Donna, who will be staging her first major act after launching her debut EP christened Donna Tella, an instalment that was released before the controversial breakdown with her baby daddy, Tanzanian music superstar Diamond. Tanasha will be looking forward to proving to the whole world that she has come of age and that she can indeed stand on her own and thrill her fans.

What about this Gengetone train that has Mbogi Genje, Sailors, Gwaash and Zzero pitted against each other? This could be the real clash as these guys who are the biggest crowd pullers in the Kenyan entertainment scene at the moment will be looking forward to outdo each other – with the debate on who is ‘the greatest’ among them being the talk on the streets. The concert that will take place at Ngong Race Course will also feature Lamaz Span KOB, VDJ Jones and Boutros.
