High court to deliver judgment after President Uhuru omitted judges individuals nominated to court

21st October, 2021

The high court is today set to deliver judgment in the row over the appointment of judges after president Uhuru Kenyatta omitted six judges from a list of 40 individuals nominated to top courts. President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed 34 of the 40 nominees, but left out high court judges Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Aggrey Muchelule, and Weldon Korir, alongside registrar of the high court Judith Omange and chief magistrate Evans Makori. While rejecting the list in 2019, president Kenyatta cited integrity issues among some judges saying they did not meet the threshold for appointment as judges to the designated courts and referred their nomination back to JSC. George Maringa is following this story for us.
