A family's desperate plea to the government to protect health workers from Covid-19

A family from Nandi County, who lost a clinical officer to Covid-19, has made a desperate plea to the government to protect health workers from the pandemic. Victor Tiony, a clinical officer at Kapkangany Health Centre in Nandi lost his battle with Covid-19 after being hospitalized for 25 days at a private hospital in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The deceased wife-Susan Jebet who is a nurse at the same facility, said the young clinician left behind two kids and the family is further staring at a huge bill which accumulated during his hospitalization. His mother, Angeline Korir said Tiony was a pillar for the family who was supporting the family through thick and thin. Tiony, who was his eight child borne out of ten children died on December 2. Health workers in the county have been on strike since Monday as they mourn their fallen colleague and push for quality PPEs and medical insurance.
