The shona community living in Kenya has presented a petition for citizenship before parliament. Led by civil society group Kenya human rights commission executive director George Kegoro, the community tabled their petition to the national assembly caucus on citizenship chaired by Rarieda member of parliament Otiende Amollo and the senate justice and legal affairs committee chaired by Nyamira senator Okong’o Omogeni. The community with roots in Zimbabwe has been living in the country since the 1960s but are still classified as state?less, a situation that has denied them basic services.
