Nakuru police officer enforcing curfew found dead on the road

A police officer who was enforcing the ongoing dusk to dawn curfew has been found dead around the Kona Mbaya area in Nakuru county.

On Wednesday, April 29, the body of Constable Basil Kirui attached to Metta police patrol Base was found lying along Mau-Narok road.

According to a police report, the officer had a deep cut on the left side of the head and there were signs of struggle in the nearby bushes with bloodstains seen around the scene.

"It was reported on Wednesday, April 29, by Corporal Kiprotich Tonui of Mathangauta police patrol base that a dead body was lying at the edge of the road at Kona Mbaya area along Mau-Narok to Njoro road. Police rushed to the scene and found the dead body of PC Basil Kirui attached to Metta police patrol base," police said in a statement.

 It is yet to be established who committed the crime but police have launched investigations into the matter.

The body of the slain officer has been moved to Egerton University Mortuary for postmortem and preservation.
