Marani and sameta sub counties in the county of kisii have been reported to be among those with high number of defilement cases in the country. Defilement and incest in this region has risen to alarming rates with most young mothers finding it hard to access economic and educational opportunities. Despite teachers in the region trying to convince the young mothers to go back to school, data released in marani sub county alone indicates that in most cases, this proves to be quite a tall order.
