Malindi boat operators vows to paralyze operational activities at Marine park over new parking fees

Boat operators at the Malindi marine park have threated to paralyze operations at the KWS run park over alleged mistreatment and harassment by KWS officials. The operators claim that KWS has introduced additional fees to dock boats for repair as well as parking fees for their personal motorcycles used to transport them to work and bring in supplies for worker. According to Malindi marine park boat operators association chairman Ali Baba KWS has introduced a sh. 300 daily fee for boats parked on shore for repairs a factor the operators claim will escalate the cost of operations. The association has now issued a 24 hour ultimatum asking KWS to transfer the senior warden. When reached for comment KWS officials at the park said the matter would be dealt wit administratively as it pertains to the security of the park.
