Cabinet rejected Sh22b cancer plan
The idea to build a cancer resource centre on a 23-acre plot in Karen was conceived in 2001 and approved by NHIF board. On May 3,2008 the Health Ministry got cabinet approval for the project.
In 2010, the government opened bilateral talks with China for funding. Raila Odinga and China Dev Bank delegation met on May 17, 2010, and resolved that the project's funding be undertaken through the Development Bank of Kenya. (DBK)
The Project was suspended in 2011 after cabinet rescinded its early approval.
 
Sonko orders hotel staff to taste his food
Mike Sonko caused a stir at a Nakuru hotel when he ordered restaurant staff to taste his breakfast.
Sonko is said to have spent the night at a four-star hotel on his way back to Nairobi after attending burial of the late Joyce Laboso.
When he was served food, the hotel chef and manager had to take two mouthfuls and swallow it in front of him to confirm that the food was safe.
 
Governor Laboso's deputy to take over
Bomet Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok will be sworn in on Thursday to officially take over the county's leadership following the death of Governor Laboso. The ceremony will be held at Bomet Green Stadium.
Senator Christopher Langat said leaders will support Barchok and ensure that Laboso's vision for Bomet is realized.?
