Licenses for all betting firms in the country will be canceled on the 1st of July until taxes are paid. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i says the betting industry is unregulated and is destroying children, families and livelihoods. 76% of the country's youth are involved in betting, 54% of those engaging in betting come from the low?income bracket with suicide cases attributed to betting being reported.
